Job qualifications have 2 basic components:

1. Core skills (title/role / department/core function / hard skills etc)

2. Industry experience (b2b vs b2c / enterprise vs smb / non-profit vs corporate vs start-up/technology + finance/health / commerce/entertainment etc)

Most jobs have a requirement for #1 and a strong preference for #2.

Knowing how to operate a system is an increasingly needed skill.

Being a specialist in at least one of the 2 areas will fast-track your career.
